Question: Are there any age limits?
Answer:
Children can start Aikido at a minimum age of 7 years old and are classed as Junior until they turn 16 years old. Adults can start at any age and train for as long as they feel able. We have several members who train within the Kikusui Kai Group that are well into the 60?s and 70?s
Question: Is Aikido a practical form of self defence?
Answer:
Most Aikido techniques practised in the dojo are designed to condition the body, although they do have a martial aspect it takes time to develop these skills. Aikido as a means of self-defence is most effective at the higher levels of training.
