The London Aikido Dojo was first opened in Bacon's College Sports Centre, Timber Pond Road, Rotherhithe, London. SE16 6AT on the 16th February 2000.  Over the past nine years the club has grown to become one of the largest Aikido clubs with in it's Association & the UK.

Classes are held every nearly every day, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings in the upstairs Gym / Drama room at Bacons College Sports Centre SE16 and every Sunday morning at the Tokei Martial Arts Centre in SE1.

We are a recognised Aikido Development Society club and hold membership of the British Aikido Board and the Japanese Aikido Association.

The practice of Aikido can benefit everyone, regardless of age or gender. Anyone who attends the regular well run classes with BAB qualified instructors, can enjoy and improve their health and fitness, posture, co-ordination and confidence, as well as learning new practical skills, and body movement.

Some members

Aikido is essentially non-violent, encourages harmony and avoidance of confrontation.

The classes are well attended with Aikido students always on the mat and aimed at all levels from beginner to advanced and everyone is welcome to come along regardless of level, fitness or experience.

All Aikido students work at their own pace during the training sessions and no one is forced into doing anything they are not comfortable with.

We have Aikido students that visit the club on a regular basis from other clubs and associations throughout the UK as well as overseas visitors.  Although we follow the Tomiki Aikido syllabus, we have a vast knowledge of different styles of Aikido and many of our Dan grades have practised and graded in other styles of Aikido.

The sports centre also has a fully equipped gym, showers, changing rooms and other sport facilities.
