Question:
Do I need to be physically fit to do Aikido?

Answer:
No, Aikido can be practised at any level of fitness. Students work at their own pace and what's important is that they enjoy their activity.

Question:
How much will it cost?

Answer:
Club fees are £6 per session for Adult members, Adult Student members £3.50 and £2.50 per session for Juniors. For non members the session fees are £7

Question:
How long will I have to train to get black belt?

Answer:
This really depends on how often you train and how quickly you can learn the technical syllabus. Gradings are held every 6 months within the London Aikido Dojo and if you were to pass every grading it could take as little as 3 years.

Question:
Do I need insurance?

Answer:
Yes you will need insurance. All members are required to join the association.

Question:
What should I wear?

Answer:
For your first couple of lessons you can wear a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a loose fitting top. Once you feel that the activity is for you, ask the instructor to recommend an Aikidogi (Uniform).

Question:
Are there any age limits?

Answer:
Children can start Aikido at a minimum age of 7 years old and are classed as Junior until they turn 16 years old. Adults can start at any age and train for as long as they feel able. We have several members who train within the Kikusui Kai Group that are well into the 60?s and 70?s

Question:
When can I start?

Answer:
Classes are held every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings for Adults, Wednesday evenings for Juniors in Bacons College Sport Centre and Sunday Mornings for Adults at the Tokei Martial Arts Centre. You are welcome to come along and try a practice session at anytime or just sit and watch a class or two, although you will get a better idea of what the activity is by taking part.
